OBLU by Atmosphere at Helengeli to open in November in dream diving location

The first resort under the sub-brand OBLU by Atmosphere Hotels and Resorts, Helengeli Island is set to open on November 1st this year.

With a full makeover of the island already under way, Helengeli Island will be known as OBLU by Atmosphere at Helengeli and will be transformed into a four-star superior resort. The new makeover will add small touches of authentic Maldivian style whilst keeping in line with an overall contemporary, modern look. The result will be a vibrant and trendy resort that still retains that cozy island feel!

Located in North Male’ Atoll, the resort is in a dream location for scuba divers. Helengeli Island lies right in the middle of an ocean channel, at the heart of the primary entrance to the atoll. This means that ocean channels are located on either side of the island meaning that Helengeli house reef is brimming with life! This unique location and rich marine life makes Helengei Island by far one of the best spots for the perfect channel dive, with an abundance of the predatory larger fish such as mantas, sharks, and barracudas spotted around the area. Even snorkellers will be able to come close to these incredible species.

The biggest highlight of Helengeli house reef is the lobster cave. 12 metres deep and home to over 50 lobsters, the lobster cave is is a marvel to see. The spot comes alive during the night, with crabs, nudibranchs, shrimps, and snails all coming out to feed.

In addition to the exquisite house reef, Helengeli Thila and Helengeli Corner, two of the most famous dive sites in the area, are located only a few minutes away by boat.

To make it a complete package holiday, the resort will be offering a best in class All-Inclusive experience too!

The opening will mark the second opening for Atmosphere in the country, following the opening of Atmosphere Kanifushi Maldives, a premium five-star all-inclusive resort situated in Lhaviyani Atoll, in December 2013.
