Registration opens for Dhiraagu Maldives Junior Open 2026 badminton tournament

The Dhiraagu Maldives Junior Open 2026 badminton tournament is set to take place from 13 to 19 December 2026 at the Ekuveni Badminton Court in Malé. Registrations are now open and will close on 25 November 2026.

As part of its commitment to supporting youth and the development of sports in the Maldives, Dhiraagu has partnered with the Badminton Club to organise the tournament, which is endorsed by the Badminton Association of Maldives and the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sports and Fitness. The tournament will bring together young badminton players from the Maldives and overseas, providing them with an opportunity to compete and showcase their talent.

The 2025 edition saw 347 players from eight countries, including 30 international athletes, compete across 733 matches, reflecting the growing participation and interest in junior badminton.

The 2026 tournament will feature six age categories, under 9, under 11, under 13, under 15, under 17 and under 19, catering to young athletes across different stages of development, along with a Para/Special Olympics category that promotes inclusivity and provides athletes of all abilities with an opportunity to compete.

Through its partnership with the tournament, Dhiraagu is proud to support the next generation of badminton talent and encourage young people to pursue an active and healthy lifestyle through sport.
