SIX & SIX PRIVATE ISLANDS appoints Jagannath Prasad as Assistant Vice President of Finance

For brands that want to deliver a more considered form of luxury, the challenge is both creative and practical. How do you make bold design choices while ensuring financial sustainability? How do you celebrate the individuality of each destination while maintaining a sense of cohesion and quality?

Luxury hospitality is evolving. It’s moving away from uniformity and display, toward experiences that feel personal, intentional, and connected to place. Guests are seeking meaning as much as comfort. They want stays that respect local culture and environment, while offering seamless service and thoughtful design. SIX & SIX PRIVATE ISLANDS was designed to answer these questions in its own distinctive way. It is not just a collection, but a unified brand experience expressed across six unique islands, each with its own narrative, aesthetic language, and guest philosophy. Together, they offer a new vision for private island living in the Maldives—one defined by soulful exploration and personal journeys.

Delivering on that vision requires more than inspiration. It demands careful stewardship and a financial strategy that aligns with brand values at every level. It is in this spirit that SIX & SIX PRIVATE ISLANDS has announced the appointment of Jagannath Prasad as Assistant Vice President of Finance. His arrival marks a key step in building the foundations needed to turn the brand’s ambitions into a living reality across all six islands.

Prasad joins the brand at a pivotal moment. The first island in the collection, RAH GILI, will begin welcoming guests in December 2025, with DHON MAAGA to follow in late 2026. These launches are not simply about adding rooms to the Maldivian inventory—they are about introducing guests to entirely distinct worlds, each carefully crafted to evoke its own mood, rituals, and sense of place. That level of differentiation brings both opportunity and complexity. From budgeting unique design elements to forecasting demand across different markets, from investing in sustainability initiatives to ensuring operational readiness, every choice needs to be financially sound while staying true to the brand’s promise.

“My first 100 days are about listening and learning,” Prasad says. “It’s about understanding what makes each island special—the guest moments we want to create—and ensuring our financial planning supports that vision without compromise. I want to work closely with every team to make sure our approach is sustainable and truly delivers on the promise of something unique and meaningful.”

For Prasad, finance can’t be rigid or one-dimensional. It must be precise, adaptable, and collaborative, supporting creativity rather than limiting it. He sees his role as helping shape solutions that honour what makes each island distinct while ensuring they’re achievable.

“Finance isn’t about saying no to creativity—it’s about making sure ideas can be realised responsibly,” he explains. “Numbers tell us what’s possible and show us how to do it well, in a way that’s viable and built on integrity.”

His role will involve close partnership with operations, sustainability, commercial, and marketing teams to ensure budgets are not barriers but enablers of meaningful guest experiences. Prasad is stepping into his new role with a clear, structured plan. With two islands on overlapping timelines, he understands the urgency and complexity ahead.

His immediate priorities include ensuring financial readiness for RAH GILI by supporting its launch with detailed, realistic models; developing robust budgets and scenario planning for DHON MAAGA’s late 2026 opening; building strong connections across departments to understand each island’s guest journey and operational plan; establishing clear, transparent workflows that promote cross-departmental alignment; and identifying responsible ways to invest in sustainability without compromising financial health.

“By the end of my first 100 days, I want every department to see finance as a partner,” he notes. “A team that understands their goals and is there to help find solutions.”

What makes SIX & SIX’s vision so compelling is its commitment to treating each island as an individual destination. Budgets must respect the character of each property while supporting the brand’s broader promise of soulful, sustainable luxury. “This isn’t a brand trying to duplicate the same experience six times,” Prasad explains. “Each island has its own character. Our financial approach needs to be equally thoughtful and responsive.”

With over 25 years in hospitality finance and operations, Prasad is known for his strategic mindset, integrity, and collaborative leadership. He has held senior roles at Oberoi Hotels, Soneva, Jumeirah Group, and Atmosphere Core, where he led internal audit and strengthened financial controls.

“Finance is about trust—in the numbers, the process, and with each other,” he says. “It’s about creating confidence that every decision has been carefully considered. That’s how you build something lasting and meaningful.”

For the entire team at SIX & SIX, Prasad’s arrival is an important addition at a critical time.

“Launching not one, but six distinct islands is an exciting challenge that comes with responsibility,” says Marc Gussing, Director of Operations “It demands a financial approach as nuanced and intentional as our design philosophy. Prasad brings the experience and mindset needed to balance vision with smart financial choices. I’m confident his leadership will be essential in bringing the SIX & SIX PRIVATE ISLANDS vision to life.”

As SIX & SIX PRIVATE ISLANDS prepares to open its first doors to the world, it’s clear the brand’s ambitions go far beyond beautiful rooms and polished service. It aims to create spaces that invite reflection, foster genuine connection, and celebrate the distinct character of each island.
