SIX & SIX PRIVATE ISLANDS introduces WITH CARE, ALWAYS through Guraidhoo, together with Master Dental Care

SIX & SIX PRIVATE ISLANDS, together with Master Dental Care Maldives, has launched its first community initiative in Guraidhoo, marking the introduction of its CSR and sustainability platform, WITH CARE, ALWAYS—a framework that brings together community wellbeing, cultural continuity, youth engagement and environmental responsibility under one unified approach.

Led by the team of RAH GILI MALDIVES, the initiative focused on dental awareness for children and families and was held under the theme, A Culture of Care. A World of Smiles. The programme welcomed 42 children between the ages of five and ten, together with their parents.

The event was developed in collaboration with K. Guraidhoo Council and K. Guraidhoo School and supported by volunteers from the resort alongside members of the local community. “This kind of initiative creates real awareness within both the school and the wider community,” said Ahmed Mujthaba, Principal of K. Guraidhoo School. “It helps children build these habits early, while also giving parents the confidence to support them at home.”

Throughout the session, children and parents took part in a series of dental awareness activities, interactive games and conversations designed to make oral health feel approachable from an early age. Among them was the “Brush Right Challenge”, which introduced children to proper brushing techniques in a way that was simple, memorable and engaging. Parents were also invited into the conversation through a question-and-answer session, creating space for practical guidance and greater awareness around oral health at home.

A key part of the programme was the dental screening conducted for all participating children by the team from Master Dental Care Maldives, one of the country’s established private dental providers based in Malé. Led by Dr Ahmed Saleem, Managing Director of Master Dental Care Maldives, the visiting team carried out comprehensive screenings designed to identify oral health concerns early and guide the next steps where further assessment may be needed.

“It is a pleasure for us to be part of this initiative alongside RAH GILI MALDIVES, the Guraidhoo Council and the school community,” said Dr Ahmed Saleem. “Programmes like this create meaningful opportunities to engage both children and parents in understanding oral health, while also allowing us to identify areas where further care may be needed and guide families accordingly.

The decision to centre the first initiative on dental health was deliberate. Within school environments, oral health is one of the most important areas where early awareness can shape long-term wellbeing. By focusing on prevention, education and early screening, the initiative supports healthier habits from a young age and encourages a more sustained approach to care.

“This is where our philosophy begins to take form,” said Laith Pharaon, Co-Founder and CEO of SIX & SIX PRIVATE ISLANDS. “Not in statements, but in consistent, meaningful actions within the communities around us.”

The programme reflects one of the six core values within the Rayyithun philosophy of SIX & SIX PRIVATE ISLANDS — Return with Generosity — a principle drawn from a way of life long practised across the islands.

When travellers once moved between islands and were caught in sudden storms, they would seek shelter on the nearest shore. They were received without question — welcomed and given rest by people who did not know their names. And when the journey was complete, they would return — not out of obligation, but out of understanding — bringing with them what they could, as a gesture of gratitude.

It is this quiet exchange — of care given, and care returned — that continues to shape how SIX & SIX PRIVATE ISLANDS approaches its relationship with the communities around it.

In a lighter moment woven into the day, children were also introduced to a reimagined version of Santhi, the Maldivian tooth fairy — not as a figure of fear, but as one of warmth, encouragement and gentle care.

To carry this idea beyond the day itself, each child was given a Santhi Promise Card — a small, illustrated keepsake that invites them to commit to simple daily habits of brushing and care. Written in gentle, rhythmic language, the promise turns routine into ritual, encouraging children to take ownership of their wellbeing in a way that feels personal, playful and lasting.

“For us, this is where commitment becomes practice,” said Marc Gussing, Senior Vice President of Operations at SIX & SIX PRIVATE ISLANDS. “WITH CARE, ALWAYS will continue through consistent engagement — working alongside communities, supporting access where needed, and ensuring that each initiative is both relevant and sustained.”

Inspired by the spirit of the Katheeb, or island chief, WITH CARE, ALWAYS is conceived as a broader framework for responsibility, stewardship and long-term engagement.

While this first initiative focused on children’s wellbeing, the platform will extend across generations — supporting the elderly who carry memory and lived knowledge, empowering women who sustain the rhythm of island life, and creating meaningful opportunities for youth.

In parallel, the platform will also guide the brand’s wider sustainability commitments, ensuring that environmental responsibility and community engagement are approached not as separate tracks, but as part of one connected and enduring effort.

This initiative marks the first expression of that intent.

With RAH GILI MALDIVES now open, WITH CARE, ALWAYS begins not as a future commitment, but as an active practice — one that will continue to take shape through ongoing engagement with surrounding communities. As SIX & SIX PRIVATE ISLANDS prepares for the opening of DON MAAGA MALDIVES later this year, the platform will extend across islands, carried forward with the same consistency, care and purpose.
