Soneva appoints new management team, opens new headquarters in Dubai

Soneva Group, a pioneer in ultra-luxury hospitality, has announced the appointment of three senior executives to its leadership team, effective September 2025. Joanna Flint has joined as Chief Commercial Officer, Chris Whitehouse as Chief Financial Officer, and Abhishek Sharma has been promoted to Chief Operating Officer.

Flint brings more than two decades of leadership experience across the luxury hospitality and technology sectors, with previous roles at Mandarin Oriental, Google and Singapore Airlines. Her expertise in global commercial strategy is expected to strengthen Soneva’s market presence by advancing sales, data, digital, and go-to-market capabilities, while further enhancing brand positioning and the customer experience.

Whitehouse assumes the role of Chief Financial Officer with extensive knowledge of financial strategy, risk management, corporate financing, and asset management. His background includes positions at The Dot Group, Candy & Candy, and CPC, all prominent names in luxury real estate development and large-scale student accommodation. He will focus on reinforcing Soneva’s financial foundations and supporting sustainable growth.

Sharma, who has been promoted to Chief Operating Officer, brings more than 25 years of international experience in luxury hospitality across the Maldives, India, Egypt, and Mauritius. Having served as Group General Manager, he has overseen operations across all three Soneva resorts, consistently promoting service excellence and creating guest experiences defined by attention to detail.

These appointments coincide with the opening of Soneva’s new global headquarters in Dubai. Strategically located at the crossroads of East and West, the Dubai office will provide opportunities to build stronger relationships with industry partners, attract global talent, and engage key feeder markets.
