Sowing seeds of change: Conrad Maldives renovates hydroponic system at Dhigurah School
Conrad Maldives Rangali Island, under the leadership of General Manager Ian Barrow and as part of Hilton’s Travel with Purpose initiative, has successfully completed the renovation and donation of its hydroponic garden system at ADH. Dhigurah School. Initially launched in 2015, this ongoing project continues to support sustainable agriculture across local islands. The recent handover, which took place on 27th April 2025, marks a significant upgrade to the system installed nine years prior, offering students and the community enhanced opportunities to engage in innovative farming techniques.
Dhigurah was the first island to benefit from this initiative, which has since expanded to seven other islands. These locations have received not only hydroponic systems but also additional resources such as computer labs and furniture. The upgraded garden at ADH. Dhigurah School will allow students to grow fresh vegetables and herbs, fostering healthier eating habits and environmental consciousness. The system includes 346 planting slots for leafy vegetables and an additional 50-pot fertigation setup. This innovative method reflects the resort’s commitment to sustainability and community resilience.
