Tourist Arrivals to Maldives Exceed 700,000

A total of 700,594 tourists have visited the Maldives this year, as of 18 August 2021. Statistics further reveal that the daily average of arrivals stands at 3,046 and the average duration of stay is 9.1 days.

Russia remains as the top source market for Maldives with 154,380 tourist arrivals and a market share of 22 per cent, followed by India with 132,745 arrivals and 18.9 per cent market share. Meanwhile, Germany takes the third place with 39,948 tourist arrivals, 5.7 per cent market share. Other top source markets include USA, Ukraine, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Kazakhstan, United Kingdom, and France.

The industry continues to recover with twenty-nine scheduled airlines and ten chartered airlines operating to the Maldives. Moreover, almost 96 per cent of the registered beds from tourist resorts are now open, while 74 per cent of the registered beds in guesthouses, 93 per cent of the registered beds in vessels, and 89 per cent of the registered beds from hotels are in operation.
