Bertrand Margerie brings over 30 years of experience with globally renowned hospitality brands across 4 continents, as he steps into his new role as General Manager of Kuramathi Maldives. With a strong background in rooms and revenue management, Bertrand is well-equipped to lead this exceptional property to new heights.

Originally from France, Bertrand holds a diploma in tourism management from Ecole Nationale de Commerce and a Financial Management Certificate from Cornell University. He began his hospitality journey in 1987 with IHG at Le Grand InterContinental in Paris, starting in front-of-house operations. Driven by a growing passion, curiosity, and an unshakable work ethic, he worked his way up one step at a time.
“I applied for a job at Le Grand InterContinental, an iconic 5-star hotel in Paris when I was only 19 years old and learned everything from the ground up. From the very beginning, I was hooked – becoming intensely passionate about hospitality. Without passion and without a team, you simply cannot thrive in this industry,” Bertrand reflects. “I was lucky to cross the way of great leaders and of great teams along my career.”
Bertrand’s career spans over three decades of operational expertise, with notable leadership roles including most recent appointments as Hotel Manager In-Charge at Sheraton New Caledonia Deva Spa & Golf Resort, Group General Manager at Chaweng Regent Beach Resort and Melati Beach Resort & Spa in Samui, and Resident Manager at Mövenpick Karon Beach, Phuket. His dynamic leadership style and strong business acumen ensures guests receive an unparalleled level of service.
In his downtime, Bertrand is eager to immerse himself in the Maldivian way of life. He plans to explore the local cuisine, culture, underwater life, and connect with the local community, embracing all the Maldives has to offer.
