Vakkaru Maldives appoints Teddy Susanto Wiryawan as new General Manager

Vakkaru Maldives has appointed Teddy Susanto Wiryawan as its new General Manager, welcoming over 20 years of luxury hospitality expertise to one of the Maldives’ most picturesque island resorts.

Teddy joins Vakkaru Maldives following six years with Hyatt, where he served as General Manager across various Alila Hotels properties in Southeast Asia. Known for his ability to enhance guest experiences, Teddy is poised to further elevate Vakkaru’s standing as a premier luxury destination.

Graduating from the Bali Tourism Institute in 2001 with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Hotel Administration, Teddy began his career at the Ritz Carlton in Bali. Two years later, he expanded his horizons by moving to the United Arab Emirates, where he refined his guest relations skills during a six-year tenure with Shangri-La Hotels.

With experience managing elite properties such as Parrot Cay and the pre-opening of Sailrock Resort in Turks & Caicos, Teddy brings a deep understanding of resort management. His career also includes leadership roles worldwide, from Thailand to the Caribbean, where he consistently drove outstanding hotel operations and guest satisfaction.

In his new role at Vakkaru Maldives, Teddy will oversee the resort’s operations, guiding the team to enrich its offerings and ensure a guest experience that embodies the renowned warmth and hospitality of the Maldives. With his extensive background in both resort and city hotel management, Teddy is expected to solidify Vakkaru’s reputation as a top destination in the Maldives and beyond.

Expressing his enthusiasm, Teddy remarked, “I am honoured to join the incredible team at Vakkaru Maldives. This is a truly unique destination, and I look forward to continuing its legacy of excellence by delivering unforgettable experiences to our guests and further enhancing the resort’s position as one of the world’s top luxury retreats.”
