Visit Maldives reinforces premium positioning at ITB Berlin 2026
Visit Maldives Corporation (VMC) has officially commenced its participation at ITB Berlin, held from 3–5 March 2026 at Messe Berlin, marking a powerful start to the Maldives’ global marketing drive as it advances toward Visit Maldives Year 2027.
This year, 67 co-exhibitors are participating under the Visit Maldives banner, demonstrating strong industry alignment and a unified national presence at one of the world’s most influential travel trade platforms. The Maldives pavilion, branded “Maldives… The Sunny Side of Life,” highlights the destination’s diverse tourism portfolio, from luxury resorts and boutique guesthouses to liveaboards, wellness retreats, family offerings, and sustainable travel experiences.
Beyond the exhibition floor, VMC’s programme at ITB Berlin 2026 features high-profile engagements designed to elevate the Maldives’ global positioning. The much-anticipated Maldivian Night returns to the international calendar as a curated networking evening, bringing together leading European tour operators, airline partners, travel trade executives, media, and key stakeholders.

The Maldives pavilion will highlight gastronomy as one of the key cultural features, providing an authentic taste of Maldivian cuisine, with the Maldivian Night further showcasing traditional flavours alongside networking experiences for invited guests.
The evening is co-hosted in collaboration with Bank of Maldives (BML), which will introduce BML Swipe, an innovative digital payment solution aimed at enhancing financial convenience for visitors across the islands. The initiative reflects the Maldives’ continued investment in technology-driven service improvements and seamless visitor journeys.
In parallel, Visit Maldives will convene an international press conference during the fair, where a landmark announcement is scheduled to be unveiled to global media and industry stakeholders. The announcement is expected to outline a forward-looking strategic direction that will further strengthen the Maldives’ competitive positioning in the lead-up to 2027 and beyond.

“As we move closer to 2027, our focus is clear,” said Ibrahim Shiuree, CEO and Managing Director of Visit Maldives Corporation. “To enhance value, diversify experiences, and future-proof our tourism sector. ITB Berlin allows us to communicate that vision directly to our most important global stakeholders.”
Europe remains a cornerstone market for the Maldives. Germany continues to rank among the leading source markets, with strong and consistent performance, while Switzerland and Austria maintain solid positions within the top European contributors. Visit Maldives’ targeted initiatives across these markets focus on experiential travel segments including diving, wellness, family holidays, and sustainability-driven tourism.

Through its expanded participation and strategic engagements at ITB Berlin 2026, Visit Maldives aims to strengthen trade relationships, increase destination visibility, and reinforce the Maldives’ standing as a premium, safe, and sustainable island destination.
