Ooredoo begins deployment of its Nationwide Undersea Cable across Maldives
[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Ooredoo has announced the deployment of its Nationwide Undersea Cable across the Maldives, with the cable being connected to its first landing station in Addu on 8 December.
The company initiated the $25,000,000 Nationwide Submarine Cable Project after receiving its ISP license in the Maldives last year.
Ooredoo’s Nationwide Undersea Cable will stretch across 1,200 km from north to south of Maldives with six landing stations in S.Hithadhoo, G.dh. Thinadhoo, M. Kolhufushi, B. Eydhafushi, and H.dh Kulhudhuffushi.
Powered by Huawei Marine’s advanced 100G technology, the cable will allow Ooredoo to greatly enhance quality of services and provide high speed internet services to all islands across the Maldives.
The project aims to support the needs of local communities and businesses in fully utilising the benefits of the digital age. This includes life enhancing opportunities such as access to telemedicine, teleworking, e-government services,
