47 participants complete Alia-MIT boat operators training programme

Alia, in collaboration with the Maldives Institute of Technology (MIT), has successfully concluded the 2026 Boat Operators Training (BOT) programme, reaffirming its commitment to enhancing maritime safety, strengthening technical competencies, and supporting the continued development of the Maldives’ marine transport industry.

Held from 14th to 16th July 2026, this year’s programme brought together 47 participants from resorts, marine transport operators, and government institutions. Throughout the three-day training, participants received comprehensive instructions on maritime regulations, navigation safety, emergency response procedures, first aid, fire safety, and best practices in vessel operations.

The programme also included practical sessions on Yamaha outboard engine maintenance and troubleshooting, providing participants with the technical knowledge and hands-on experience required to improve operational efficiency and respond effectively to real-world situations at sea.

At the closing ceremony, all participants were awarded certificates of completion in recognition of their commitment to professional development and the successful completion of the programme. The training continues to equip boat captains with the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills needed to operate safely and responsibly in today’s evolving maritime environment.
