Maldives’ August tourist arrivals hike 3% over July to reach 172,000
More than 172,000 tourists visited Maldives in August, according to statistics from the Ministry of Tourism. This is a 3% increase compared to 167,500 arrivals in July.
According to the statistics released by the ministry on Sunday, 172,314 tourists arrived in Maldives from the 1st to the 30th of last month. That brings the total to 1.35 million so far this year. This is also an 11% increase compared to August last year.

- In August 2022, 131,863 tourist arrivals
The highest number of tourists — 7,032 visitors — arrived on August 14. The lowest number of 3,715 tourists arrived on the 29th. The average number is 5,500. The average stay was 7.7 days.
The top five source markets in August are:
- China: 197,326
- Russia: 146,243
- United Kingdom: 117,080
- Italy: 100,874
- Germany: 95,686
India topped the list during the same period last year. However, India was sixth on the list with around 81,000 tourists last month.
