Visit Maldives Corporation partners 1st Thoddoo Masters Table Tennis Tournament
Visit Maldives Corporation (VMC) has announced its role as the Destination Partner of the inaugural Thoddoo Masters Table Tennis Tournament (TMTT), scheduled to take place from 19–25 August 2025 in AA. Thoddoo, Maldives.
The tournament is organised by Thoddoo Local Authority Company (TLAC) and Ihaa Table Tennis Academy (ITTA), with the endorsement of the Ministry of Sports, Fitness and Recreation, the Table Tennis Association of Maldives, and Visit Maldives Corporation.
The event will bring together 120 international and local players aged 35 and above. Beyond the competitive aspect, the tournament aims to advance the Maldives’ vision of becoming a leading sports tourism destination by showcasing the nation’s ability to host international sporting events alongside its natural beauty and hospitality sector.
Matches will be held at Thoddoo’s multi-purpose school hall. In addition to the competition, the tournament is expected to generate cultural exchange, community engagement, and economic opportunities for the island. This reflects the growing role of sports tourism in diversifying the Maldives’ tourism industry.
Speaking on the occasion, Ibrahim Shiuree, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Visit Maldives Corporation, said: “This tournament highlights our commitment to expanding the Maldives’ tourism horizon. The 1st Thoddoo Masters Table Tennis Tournament represents a significant step towards establishing the Maldives as a sports tourism hub, while directly benefiting local communities and strengthening the nation’s international profile.
