Siyam World hosts Kudafari School students for tourism industry exposure
Siyam World Maldives, in collaboration with the Maldives Association of Tourism Industry (MATI), recently hosted the Discover Tourism: Explore Career Pathways programme. The resort welcomed students and teachers from Kudafari School for a half-day session aimed at inspiring the next generation to consider career opportunities within the tourism industry.
The session was attended by 21 students from Grades 9 and 10, all studying Travel and Tourism. It offered them the chance to explore different aspects of resort operations, including guest services, culinary activities, recreation, and sustainability practices. Through guided tours, interactive sessions, and practical exposure, students gained insights into the skills, teamwork, and commitment required in the hospitality sector.
This marked the eighth edition of the Discover Tourism initiative, a nationwide programme led by MATI to encourage young Maldivians to pursue careers in tourism. Previous sessions have been held at other resorts and organisations. Representing MATI at Siyam World were Executive Director Rafil Mohamed and Communications Strategist Reena Abdul Wahid. They were joined by Sun Siyam’s Director of Training and Development Ahmed Ibrahim, who guided the students through the programme.
Siyam World expressed its commitment to supporting initiatives that foster the development of future Maldivian hospitality professionals. By encouraging curiosity, ambition, and creativity among young people, the resort noted that the long-term sustainability and growth of the Maldivian tourism industry can be ensured through the contribution of skilled and motivated leaders.
