Sun Siyam Iru Fushi marks World Tourism Day with sustainable celebrations
Sun Siyam Iru Fushi marked World Tourism Day 2025 with a vibrant programme inspired by the global theme, ‘Tourism & Sustainable Transformation.’ As part of the Sun Siyam Cares initiative, guests and team members participated in a series of immersive activities, ranging from cultural showcases and creative workshops to sustainability-focused events, underscoring the resort’s dedication to responsible tourism and the Maldivian way of life.
The celebrations opened with Taste the Change – Sustainable Cooking Challenge, where participants prepared plant-based dishes using seasonal, zero-waste ingredients. Alongside the culinary creations, they also gained practical insights on reducing food waste. The afternoon featured the Kite Festival – Flying High for Sustainable Transformation, which invited guests and colleagues to design, build, and fly kites carrying messages of sustainability, cultural pride, and positive change.

The day’s activities reinforced Iru Fushi’s commitment to sustainable tourism while offering distinctive and enriching experiences for both guests and the local community.
