Maldives nominated for World’s Leading Destination and Green Destination 2025
The Maldives has once again been nominated at the 2025 World Travel Awards (WTA), following its recent success in securing two prestigious regional titles at the Indian Ocean level. The destination now advances to compete on the global stage in the categories of World’s Leading Destination 2025 and World’s Leading Green Destination 2025 — two of the highest honours in international travel and tourism.
The Maldives boasts a remarkable record at the World Travel Awards, having consecutively won the title of World’s Leading Destination for the past five years. This ongoing achievement underscores the country’s enduring global appeal, renowned for its unparalleled natural beauty, world-class hospitality, and distinctive cultural heritage.
In addition to defending its reigning title, the Maldives is competing for World’s Leading Green Destination 2025, an accolade that highlights the nation’s deep commitment to sustainability, environmental protection, and community-led conservation. Securing this recognition would further reinforce the Maldives’ standing as not only a premier holiday destination but also a global leader in responsible and regenerative tourism.
