Anantara Veli Maldives Resort appoints David Caille as Resort Manager

Anantara Veli Maldives Resort, a luxury adults-only island sanctuary in South Malé Atoll, has announced the appointment of experienced hotelier David Caille as Resort Manager. With over 12 years of international hospitality experience across Thailand and the Maldives, he brings a refined operational focus, strong leadership presence and a clear commitment to elevating the guest experience.

David’s career includes roles at several renowned properties in both Thailand and the Maldives. Familiar with the Anantara brand, he most recently held the position of Executive Assistant Manager – Operations at Anantara Rasananda Koh Phangan Villas. During his tenure, he played a key role in enhancing guest satisfaction and service delivery, including the introduction of more personalised villa hosting and curated wellness and dining experiences.

In early 2025, David was seconded as taskforce Resort Manager at Naladhu Private Island Maldives, where he oversaw daily operations and helped preserve the resort’s distinctive sense of private-island intimacy and refined service. Prior to this, he served as Hotel Manager at Layana Resort & Spa in Thailand, guiding the property to the top of TripAdvisor’s rankings as one of the country’s leading luxury hotels.

Originally from Switzerland, David studied at École Hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL), where his passion for travel, people and shared experiences helped shape his path in hospitality. Fluent in French, English and German, he is known for his warm, engaging leadership style and his belief that meaningful hospitality is rooted in genuine human connection.

“Hospitality has shaped how I see life. It is about empathy, ease and sincere care. What inspires me most is creating places where guests can feel at home, connect naturally and enjoy the moment. At Anantara Veli, I am most excited to bring this spirit to life, to make the resort not only serene and beautiful, but also vibrant and social – a place where guests can share stories over sunset cocktails, dance barefoot by the ocean and feel part of something special,” David shared.

In his new role, David will oversee all operations at Anantara Veli Maldives Resort, an adults-only island retreat recognised for its serene setting, mindful wellness philosophy and understated elegance. Located just a 30-minute speedboat journey from Velana International Airport in Malé, the resort offers thoughtfully designed overwater and beachfront pool villas, each providing direct access to the lagoon or shoreline. The villas are conceived with a focus on space, natural light and refined island living, complemented by curated dining experiences and a holistic wellness offering guided by Ayurvedic principles.

Jason Kruse, Complex General Manager for Anantara Maldives, commented: “David brings both operational expertise and genuine warmth to the role. His approach aligns perfectly with the spirit of Anantara Veli, and we are confident that he will further enhance the guest journey and team culture on the island.”
