Hotelier Maldives Awards unveils elevated brand identity, new trophy design for 2027
Hotelier Maldives has unveiled a refined brand identity and an entirely new trophy design for the Hotelier Maldives Awards 2027, marking the next stage in the development of its annual recognition programme for hospitality professionals across the Maldives.
The evolution introduces a new visual direction for the Awards, centred on understated elegance, craftsmanship and the people whose work sustains the country’s hospitality industry. At the heart of this transformation is a redesigned trophy, conceived not simply as a symbol of achievement, but as a tribute to the individuals behind the guest experiences for which the Maldives is recognised.
The new design is guided by a central philosophy: value is found, not displayed. It reflects the belief that the people responsible for delivering hospitality often work beyond the view of guests, yet their contributions form the foundation of the industry’s success.
From chefs and housekeepers to engineers, gardeners, front office professionals and resort management teams, the Awards recognise the individuals whose commitment and expertise shape hospitality operations every day.
The redesigned trophy translates this philosophy into a contemporary interpretation of an obelisk, a form historically associated with monuments and recognition. While traditional obelisks commemorated rulers and prominent figures, the Hotelier Maldives Awards trophy reinterprets the form to honour the people whose work makes such achievements possible.
Its upward-tapering silhouette represents career progression, the advancement of professional standards and the continued development of the Maldivian hospitality industry.

Viewed from above, the trophy takes the shape of a rounded triangle derived from the Awards’ visual mark, establishing a direct relationship between the refined brand identity and the physical award. Its three faces represent the interconnected relationship between the destination, the guest and the people who deliver the experience.

The trophy features a brushed, platinum-toned finish, departing from the conventional gold associated with awards and recognition. Its vertical grain reflects the repeated effort and attention to detail that characterise work in hospitality, while the restrained surface treatment represents an approach to luxury based on substance rather than display.
A defining element of the design is a recessed panel featuring engraved tropical foliage, including palm fronds, ferns and leaves inspired by the island environment. The Awards mark is integrated within the foliage, revealing itself through the interplay of light and shadow.
The engraving represents the less visible side of resort operations: kitchens, laundries, workshops, gardens and other spaces where much of the work behind the guest experience takes place. The intricate detailing serves as a recognition of the contributions that frequently go unnoticed but remain essential to the functioning of every resort.
The column rests on a matte black base, symbolising the foundation upon which hospitality excellence is built. A thin band separates the base from the column, representing the connection between the people who sustain resort operations and the achievements recognised by the industry.
The recipient’s name is positioned on a bronze plate within the base, reinforcing the principle that recognition belongs to those who carry the weight of the industry’s success.
Completing the design is a recessed crown with softened edges, replacing the pointed summit of a traditional obelisk. The feature represents excellence not as a final destination, but as a standard maintained and renewed through consistent effort.
Together, these elements establish a new design language for the Hotelier Maldives Awards, connecting the programme’s identity with the purpose of recognising hospitality professionals.

The refined branding and redesigned trophy also reflect the Awards’ continued evolution as a platform dedicated to recognising individual achievement, professional development and contributions across the Maldivian hospitality sector.
With the 2027 edition, Hotelier Maldives aims to further strengthen the significance of the recognition received by award winners, while ensuring that the trophy itself represents the values, dedication and professional standards associated with the industry.
Submissions for the Hotelier Maldives Awards 2027 will open on 2 January 2027, inviting nominations of hospitality professionals from across the Maldives. The winners will be recognised at the annual awards gala, scheduled to take place in April 2027.
