Hussain Afeef named chairman of Maldives Association of Tourism Industry

Tourism pioneer Hussain Afeef has been appointed as Chairman of the Maldives Association of Tourism Industry (MATI), filling the vacancy in the post.

The appointment was made at the 36th Annual General Meeting of MATI, held on Sunday at Kurumba Maldives.

Afeef previously served as Vice Chairman of the MATI Executive Committee during earlier terms.

The position of Chairman of the MATI Executive Committee had remained vacant following the death of Mohamed Umar Maniku, widely known as MU Maniku.

Maniku, who was Chairman of Universal Enterprises, passed away in late August last year. He died at the age of 78 after undergoing medical treatment for about a month at Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore.
