Cocoon Collection promotes Madura Liyanaguruge to Bar Manager at Joy Island Maldives

Cocoon Collection has promoted Madura Arundaka Liyanaguruge to the position of Bar Manager at Joy Island Maldives, effective July 2026.

In his new role, Liyanaguruge will oversee the resort’s bar operations, beverage service and team management. His responsibilities will include supporting service delivery, supervising the bar team and maintaining operational standards across the resort’s beverage outlets.

Liyanaguruge joined Cocoon Collection in 2025 as Assistant Bar Manager. His promotion follows his contribution to the resort’s bar operations and guest service during his time with the hospitality group.

Before joining Cocoon Collection, he served as Assistant Beverage Manager at Villa Haven in the Maldives. He previously worked as Bar Supervisor at Raffles Maldives Meradhoo and held roles with Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas in both the Maldives and Israel.

Earlier in his career, Liyanaguruge worked as a bartender at One&Only Reethi Rah and Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas. He began his hospitality career at Kanuhura Maldives.

Through these roles, he has gained experience in food and beverage operations, bar management, beverage service and team supervision across several international resort brands and destinations.

Located in North Malé Atoll, Joy Island Maldives is an all-inclusive resort approximately 40 minutes from Velana International Airport by speedboat. The property has 151 villas and suites, comprising 91 beach accommodations and 60 overwater villas. Its accommodation portfolio includes beach and lagoon villas, family villas, suites with private pools, and two-bedroom residences.

The resort’s food and beverage offering includes three restaurants and Rainbow Bar. The Market serves international cuisine through buffet and live-cooking stations, while Il Basilico specialises in Italian dishes and wood-fired pizzas. Palm Beach combines beachfront dining with a bar setting, offering seafood, grilled dishes and sunset views. Rainbow Bar, located beside the resort’s swimming pool, serves cocktails, wines and other beverages.

As Bar Manager, Liyanaguruge will contribute to the management and development of the resort’s beverage programme while supporting the wider food and beverage operation.
