Royal Island hosts annual blood donation drive with Maldivian Blood Services
Royal Island Resort & Spa held its annual blood donation drive on 28 August 2026 in collaboration with Maldivian Blood Services, bringing together team members and donors in support of the country’s blood supply.
The initiative saw members of the Royal Island community volunteer to donate blood, with the resort describing the drive as an opportunity for its team to contribute directly to patients requiring blood for medical treatment and emergencies.
Organised in association with Maldivian Blood Services, the annual programme forms part of the resort’s community-focused activities and encourages employees to take part in voluntary blood donation.
The initiative also continues a wider history of blood donation activities across Villa Resorts and the Villa Group. In June 2023, Villa Group organised its first group-wide blood donation programme in collaboration with Maldivian Blood Services, with employees from several of its subsidiaries taking part. At the time, Villa said many participants were first-time donors and announced plans to continue organising blood donation programmes regularly to support a consistent blood supply.
The group’s involvement has continued at resort level. Earlier this month, sister property Villa Nautica also organised a blood donation camp with Maldivian Blood Services. Maldivian Blood Services said the initiative included a visit by the head of Maldivian Blood Services and Malé City Group of Hospitals.
Royal Island is located on Horubadhoo in Baa Atoll, within the UNESCO-designated Baa Atoll Biosphere Reserve. The resort, part of the Villa Resorts portfolio, features 152 beachfront villas alongside restaurants, bars, Araamu Spa, recreational facilities and an on-site medical clinic.
Villa Resorts currently comprises Royal Island, Villa Nautica, Villa Park and Villa Haven. The Maldivian hospitality group traces its operations to 1986.
Through the annual drive, Royal Island said its team came together around a shared purpose of contributing to the national blood supply and supporting people in need of lifesaving transfusions.
