CROSSROADS Maldives promotes Ibrahim Farhad to Director of Marina

CROSSROADS Maldives has promoted Ibrahim Farhad to Director of Marina, expanding his responsibilities to include the overall management of The Marina and Township operations while retaining oversight of the destination’s retail activities.

The promotion, effective from 1 October 2026, follows Farhad’s tenure as Director of Retail, a position he has held since joining CROSSROADS Maldives in June 2024.

In his new role, Farhad will oversee several operational departments, including retail, airport and transport services, laundry, engineering and public area operations at The Marina. His responsibilities will also extend to the overall operations of The Marina and Township, alongside performance monitoring and reporting for SHR outlets and banqueting.

The expanded role will see him coordinate across departments, support operational teams and maintain service standards across The Marina’s commercial and leisure facilities.

Farhad brings experience across tourism policy, aviation, retail and operations management. Before joining CROSSROADS Maldives, he served as Senior Policy Director at the Ministry of Tourism from March 2019 to November 2023, contributing to the ministry’s work during a period that included the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent recovery of the tourism industry.

His earlier private sector experience includes working as Marketing Executive at Alia Investments Pvt Ltd in 2018 and Operations Manager at Fire Co. International between March 2017 and February 2018.

Farhad also spent nearly six years with Mega Maldives Airlines, serving as a Flight Attendant from June 2011 to April 2017. During this period, he gained experience in international aviation operations, including long-haul and charter flights serving destinations across Africa and the Middle East.

In addition to his corporate and tourism industry experience, Farhad has served in the Maldives National Cadet Corps, where he has held the rank of Captain since November 2008. He also served as Director of the International Affairs Unit between May 2018 and September 2023.

In February 2026, he joined the Executive Board of the Maldives Association of Tourism Industry (MATI), further extending his involvement in the country’s tourism sector.

Located in Emboodhoo Lagoon in South Malé Atoll, approximately 15 minutes by speedboat from Velana International Airport and Malé, CROSSROADS Maldives is an integrated leisure and lifestyle destination developed around a multi-island concept.

The destination comprises three resorts: SAii Lagoon Maldives, Curio Collection by Hilton; Hard Rock Hotel Maldives; and SO/ Maldives. The properties offer accommodation ranging from beachfront rooms and villas to overwater residences, with guests able to access dining, entertainment, wellness and recreational facilities across the wider destination.

At the centre of CROSSROADS Maldives is The Marina, a waterfront commercial and entertainment hub featuring a 30-berth yacht quay, retail outlets, restaurants, bars and leisure facilities. Its dining and entertainment offerings include Hard Rock Cafe Maldives, alongside restaurants serving international cuisine.

The Marina also houses the Marine Discovery Centre and Maldives Discovery Centre, which introduce visitors to the country’s marine environment, conservation activities, history and culture. Other facilities include water sports and diving services, wellness offerings, a children’s club and event spaces.

Unlike conventional single-island resorts in the Maldives, CROSSROADS operates as a connected destination serving both resident hotel guests and day visitors travelling from Malé and surrounding areas. The Marina functions as a central point for shopping, dining, recreation, marine activities and transport services.

Farhad’s promotion places him in charge of a broader range of operational functions at The Marina, building on his previous responsibilities in retail management as CROSSROADS Maldives continues to operate its integrated tourism, commercial and entertainment facilities.
