Aqua Activities on Offer at Pullman Maldives for World Ocean Day

What better place than the Maldives to learn to become a mermaid? The Pullman Maldives has officially launched its new PADI Mermaid course – as the first resort in the archipelago to do so.

The Pullman Maldives Maamutaa celebrates World Ocean Day with a whole week of water-themed activities as it launches its brand new PADI Mermaids course and puts on an array of aqua fitness activities and even an underwater live painting and art exhibition.

The Aqua Week from 5 – 11 June 2021 is allowing guests to seize every opportunity to connect with ocean related activities. Starting from this year, this event will take place every June to celebrate Ocean Day on 8 June.

The Pullman Maldives is the first resort in Maldives to offer the new PADI Mermaids courses with four different levels. Get ready to learn new underwater skills, gain a certificate and a memory of a lifetime. The mainly female instructors are the epitome of a mermaid, with long flowing long hair and some wearing crowns as they teach the art of mermaid diving. Mermaid diving entails swimming with a monofin and a mermaid tail. The practice employs a similar method to free diving, without a mask and diving equipment.

PADI Mermaid courses are for the whole family and suitable for little girls from the age of six and upwards.  Guests can choose a Discover Mermaid Course to experience wearing a tail and monofin in very shallow water. Then there is a certification for a basic mermaid course and to get certified and then there is an advanced course for those who want to further their mermaid qualifications and become a master mermaid in deeper water. The opportunities to become a mermaid allow people to have careers underwater modelling, and performers can be hired for kids parties.

The Pullman Maldives has some of the Maldives’ most exclusive free diving opportunities. It is renowned for its numerous channels and species of shark, green turtles, eagle rays and stingrays.
