Booking.com and Visit Maldives join forces to elevate Maldives tourism

Booking.com, a leading digital travel platform, and the Maldives Marketing & Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on promoting the Maldives as a premier travel destination. This partnership aims to leverage Booking.com’s global reach and marketing expertise to highlight the islands’ natural beauty, vibrant culture, and diverse experiences, ultimately driving increased tourism to the region.

The MoU, effective from March 1, 2025, to March 1, 2027, establishes a framework for joint initiatives, campaigns, and strategic partnerships between Booking.com and MMPRC. These efforts will focus on increasing tourist arrivals through innovative marketing strategies, enhancing the visibility of the Maldives’ tourism offerings on Booking.com, developing joint marketing campaigns, conducting skill-building workshops for accommodation providers, and promoting sustainable tourism practices.

MMPRC’s CEO & Managing Director, Ibrahim Shiuree, emphasised the significance of this partnership in showcasing the Maldives’ beauty and diversity on a global scale. He noted that, by utilising Booking.com’s extensive network and digital marketing capabilities, the collaboration aims to significantly boost visitor numbers and overall tourism growth. The partnership is also expected to help the Maldives reach a broader international audience and position itself as a multifaceted destination.

As part of the collaboration, Booking.com will provide supply chain optimisation training for accommodation partners and MMPRC staff, support MMPRC’s marketing campaigns through engaging promotional activities, and share travel trend insights while ensuring compliance with data privacy regulations. Additionally, the company will contribute to MMPRC’s destination marketing initiatives and actively promote sustainable tourism practices in alignment with MMPRC’s objectives.

Santosh Kumar, Country Manager for India, Sri Lanka, Maldives, and Indonesia at Booking.com, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating that the Maldives offers an unparalleled travel experience. He reaffirmed Booking.com’s commitment to utilising its platform and resources to showcase the Maldives’ unique attractions to travelers worldwide.
