Ex-minister Mausoom named Travel Personality of the Year at World Travel Awards

Former Maldives Tourism Minister Dr. Abdulla Mausoom clinched the Travel Personality of the Year title at the World Travel Awards (WTA) ceremony in Dubai’s Burj Al Arab Hotel last Friday. The WTA lauded Dr. Mausoom’s leadership in navigating the Maldives’ tourism sector amid the COVID-19 challenges.

Adding to their accolades, Maldives secured the World’s Leading Destination award for the fourth consecutive year at the event. Notably, seven Maldivian resorts bagged awards:

  • Hotel Jen Male’ by Shangri-La, Maldives: World’s Leading Boutique Airport Hotel 2023
  • JA Manafaru: World’s Leading Honeymoon Resort 2023

  • Vommuli Resort: World’s Leading Luxury Island Resort 2023
  • Velaa Private Island: World’s Leading Private Island Resort 2023

  • Baros Maldives: World’s Most Romantic Resort 2023

Furthermore, the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) gained recognition as the world’s most popular tourism board.
