Guests were invited to a retro beach party on Friday, followed by a tribal bonfire and cocktail party. On day two, guests were invited to a retro pool party with champagne cocktails and snacks coupled with retro-inspired music and entertainment. The party continued late into the night with rouge-themed performances.
Day three ended with a retro inspired beach party dubbed ‘50 shades of BLHU’. Four times a year, ‘Finolhu Blhu’ events will offer exclusive one-off extravaganzas featuring appearances from the world’s coolest performers and hottest DJs.
Set within the UNESCO biosphere reserve of Baa Atoll, Finolhu can be reached by a 30-minute seaplane ride from the Ibrahim Nasir International Airport or a 20 minute flight to Dharanvandhoo Domestic Airport in Baa atoll.
“Finolhu has all the hallmarks of paradise. Translucent waters, 1.8km long white-sand bank and perma-clear skies aside, what really sets it apart from its Maldivian competitors is its effortlessly stylish surrounds and beach clubby-ness,” the resort said in a press statement.
The ultimate island experience for chic couples, fun-loving families and groups of friends alike, Finolhu’s 125 villas are on the ocean, the lagoon or by the beach, with or without pool, and are outfitted with retro-inspired interiors and vintage-style Marshall speakers, while bathrooms and spa facilities are stocked with all-natural, organic products from Neal’s Yard Remedies.
Finolhu’s Kid’s zone, Thuderball offers a variety of watersports, beach games and a teen’s club. The Oceaneers Club, ideal for younger kids offers sports and games, cooking classes and crafts, and activities in and on the water. Finolhu’s Marine HUB (Home of the Underwater Biosphere) offers water activities including diving, snorkelling trips and excursions.
The island’s spa, The Cove Club, is furnished with pastel-coloured beach divans and offers ten chandelier-lit treatment Divans , each celebrating an iconic diva of the 60s and 70s. The Cove club is complimented by a steam and sauna, fitness centre, movement pavilion and outdoor ‘Palm Beach gym’.
Finolhu also offers laid-back yet elegant dining options, with the Baa Baa Beach Club at its heart, serving breakfast, cocktails and snacks.
The island’s Fish & Crab Shack, located halfway along the sandbar, serves buckets of prawns and crabs, among other seafood dishes, and drinks.
Finolhu’s star dining venue Kanusan, on the tip of the island with sweeping views of the Indian Ocean, comprises an over-water bar area, indoor space and al fresco lower deck with an open kitchen, and serves Asian specialties.
Bringing magical Maghreb flavours to the Maldives, the boutique-style Baahaa Grill restaurant will celebrate the legendary spice blends of pre-Moorish North Africa, where a town’s finest spice sellers were as famous as its rulers.
Finolhu’s Milk Bar sells convenience items and healthy treats like guilt-free wraps, smashed avocado and acai bowls, smoothies, juices, and Bodyism Shakes.
At night, the two-storey Beach Club Bar offers food and wine, big screens showing classic movies and sports, a game arcade, views and music.
