French bee to launch seasonal flights to Maldives in December
French airline French bee will begin flights to the Maldives later this year as part of its winter schedule expansion.
The carrier announced that it will operate services to both the Maldives and Sri Lanka, with flights scheduled to commence on 19 December. Ticket sales have already opened.
According to the airline, the seasonal operation will run until May next year, offering travellers the opportunity to visit both destinations during the winter travel period.
French bee Chief Executive Officer Marc-Antoine said the addition of the Maldives and Sri Lanka supports the airline’s plans to expand its route network.
He noted that the new services form part of the carrier’s broader strategy to strengthen its presence in long-haul leisure markets.
The launch marks the entry of another European airline into the Maldivian market, providing additional connectivity between France and the Maldives.
According to statistics published by the Ministry of Tourism, France is currently the seventh-largest source market for tourist arrivals to the Maldives.
More than 29,000 visitors from France have travelled to the Maldives so far this year.
Tourism authorities have continued efforts to diversify source markets and expand air connectivity, particularly across Europe, which remains one of the Maldives’ key tourism regions.
