Coco de Mer Maldives, Tapestry Collection by Hilton

Hilton adds fifth brand to Maldives portfolio with Tapestry Collection; Coco de Mer Maldives to open in 2027

Hilton has announced the signing of Coco de Mer Maldives, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, marking the lifestyle brand’s planned entry into the Maldives.

Scheduled to open in June 2027, the 75-key resort will be located 25 minutes by speedboat from Velana International Airport. Hilton said the property would combine premium resort experiences with access from the country’s main international gateway.

The resort will feature a selection of dining concepts, a wellness centre, a sea sports centre, pickleball courts and other recreational facilities. Hilton said the property would reflect Tapestry Collection’s focus on independently designed hotels with experiences connected to their destinations.

The signing forms part of Hilton’s expansion of its luxury and lifestyle portfolio in South East Asia. It was announced alongside two properties in Thailand: Andamanda Voyage, Curio Collection by Hilton in Phuket and the first Tapestry Collection by Hilton property in Chiang Mai.

“Thailand and the Maldives have long been lifestyle powerhouses in South East Asia, and these signings provide new opportunities to showcase our independent-spirited brands,” Alexandra Murray, vice-president and regional head of South East Asia at Hilton, said.

“Tapestry Collection and Curio Collection are a natural fit for these destinations where guests seek not just accommodation, but experiences rooted in place. These signings reinforce our commitment to bringing the right brands to the right markets, as we continue to grow our lifestyle presence across key destinations.”

Coco de Mer Maldives will broaden a Hilton portfolio in the country that currently comprises four resorts operating under four of the group’s brands: Conrad Maldives Rangali Island, Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi, Hilton Maldives Amingiri Resort & Spa and SAii Lagoon Maldives, Curio Collection by Hilton. Based on the existing portfolio, the new property would increase Hilton’s Maldives presence to five resorts and introduce a fifth Hilton brand to the destination.

Conrad Maldives Rangali Island represents the Conrad Hotels & Resorts brand, while Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi operates under Hilton’s Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts luxury brand.

SAii Lagoon Maldives, located at CROSSROADS Maldives, introduced Curio Collection by Hilton to the destination. Hilton Maldives Amingiri Resort & Spa subsequently marked the arrival of the company’s flagship Hilton Hotels & Resorts brand when it opened in 2022.

The addition of Tapestry Collection would give Hilton another lifestyle offering in the Maldives alongside Curio Collection. Tapestry Collection comprises independently operated hotels that retain their individual identities while participating in Hilton’s distribution and loyalty platforms.

Hilton announced in June that both Tapestry Collection and Curio Collection had surpassed 200 hotels globally, as the company continued to expand the two collection brands in resort and urban destinations.

The Maldives signing also supports Hilton’s target of exceeding 250 luxury and lifestyle properties across Asia Pacific. The company plans to more than double its luxury and lifestyle portfolio in South East Asia as demand grows for hotels offering destination-focused experiences.

“We continue to see strong interest from owners in South East Asia for lifestyle brands, supported by solid market fundamentals and evolving traveller demand,” Maria Ariizumi, vice-president of development for South East Asia at Hilton, said.

“These signings allow us to broaden our presence in high-demand destinations, where we see clear opportunities to scale our award-winning brands alongside trusted local partners and unlock new opportunities in both resort and cultural destinations.”

Coco de Mer Maldives will participate in Hilton Honors, Hilton’s guest loyalty programme. Members booking through Hilton’s direct channels will be able to access benefits including member rates, points and money payment options, complimentary standard Wi-Fi and digital services through the Hilton Honors mobile application.
