Japanese media in Maldives for familiarisation trip

The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC / Visit Maldives) is hosting several journalists from Japan to visit the Maldives on a familiarisation (FAM) trip.

The Japanese journalists are currently in the Maldives from 17th May to 24th May 2024, experiencing stays at 3 properties, Huvafen Fushi, Mövenpick Resort Kuredhivaru and LUX* South Ari Atoll.

Notable media platforms are represented by the writers delegation including, VOGUE Japan Online, CREA WEB, Numero Tokyo.jp and MyNavi Woman. MMPRC is excited to boost Maldives in multiple digital platforms and broadcast Maldives as a safe holiday destination, helping in building great brand awareness in the Japanese market. Additionally, this FAM trip provides a great opportunity to send out notable publications for the target viewers, and readers a firsthand encounter with the Maldives and its luxury retreats, as well as unique wellness retreat programs.

MMPRC aims to advance the marketing strategies for the Japanese market, focused on building destination awareness and showcasing various elements of tourism available in the Maldives to the Japanese travel trade and travellers as a destination. MMPRC targets trend-conscious, newly young affluent individuals and those who aspire to and have the ability to cultivate a high-quality lifestyle through this familiarisation trip.

Earlier this year, Visit Maldives was awarded 3rd place in the “Best Area Overseas Division” and 2nd place in the “Best Overseas Destination I Want to Visit for the First Time”, in the “Marine Diving Awards 2023,” as voted by divers nationwide in Japan. MMPRC aims to maintain destination presence and to place Maldives as the top choice destination to travel as it has continued to in the past years. Japan, currently ranks at 13th in market arrivals, with 9,333 arrivals as of April 2024 with 1.5% market share.
