JW Marriott Maldives Kaafu Atoll appoints Bir Yadav as Executive Chef

JW Marriott Maldives Kaafu Atoll Island Resort has announced the appointment of Chef Bir Yadav as Executive Chef, bringing more than 23 years of culinary expertise across luxury hospitality, with experience spanning a diverse range of international cuisines and culinary traditions.

Chef Bir’s career has taken him across leading hospitality groups including Marriott International, Four Seasons, The Oberoi and Hyatt, as well as several traditional resorts in the Maldives. Throughout his career, he has developed a broad culinary perspective shaped by working with different cuisines, cultures, and culinary teams with a focus on creating dining experiences that balance authenticity, creativity, and contemporary presentation.

In his new role, Chef Bir will oversee the resort’s diverse culinary programme across its collection of dining venues. Drawing on his international experience, he looks forward to exploring the many influences that shape modern cuisine, from Mediterranean and Asian flavours to Indian and Maldivian traditions, while creating distinctive experiences for guests.

Having lived in the Maldives since 2011, Chef Bir has developed a strong connection to the destination and its people. His years in the Maldives have shaped his understanding of the local culture and strengthened his appreciation for the ingredients, traditions and hospitality of the islands.

Sustainability also remains an important part of his culinary philosophy, from responsible choices within the kitchen to thoughtful approaches to sourcing and menu development. His interest in global cuisines continues to influence his approach, encouraging collaboration, exploration, and a constant exchange of ideas across the culinary team.

At JW Marriott Maldives Kaafu Atoll Island Resort, Chef Bir will bring together his international experience and knowledge of the Maldives to lead a culinary programme centred on craftsmanship, discovery and a sense of place.
