Maldives’ 2023 millionth visitor holidays at Vakkaru

The island nation and Vakkaru Maldives celebrate a significant tourism milestone as they welcomed Anton Pavlov and his family, the millionth visitor of 2023.

Anton Pavlov, who arrived on Sunday from the United Kingdom, was accompanied by his wife and child and greeted with enthusiastic applause and celebrations at Velana International Airport by the Minister of Tourism. The family continued their journey to the idyllic Vakkaru Maldives, located in the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve of Baa Atoll.

In a celebratory atmosphere during the resort’s weekly cocktail party, the Pavlovs said they were thrilled to be the millionth visitor to the Maldives this year, especially since it was their first time to the destination. They also said Vakkaru Maldives was the first choice for their summer vacation this year because of the resort’s exceptional reputation for being a haven of unique family-friendly amenities and experiences.

Also sharing his excitement about this milestone, Iain McCormack said: “I’d like to congratulate Anton Pavlov and his family. We are deeply honoured to welcome the country’s one-millionth tourist today. This auspicious event underscores the Maldives’ ever-growing popularity as a preferred destination, particularly among families and travellers from the UK. It is a testament to the remarkable beauty, hospitality, and unique experiences our paradise islands offer.”
