Visit Maldives, has promoted Maldives at the East Mediterranean International Travel and Tourism Exhibition (EMITT) 2024, held at the Tuyap Fair and Congress Centre in Istanbul, Turkey from February 6th to 9th, 2024. With a robust delegation of 19 representatives from 12 companies within the Maldives tourism industry, the event serves as a prime platform to showcase the allure of the Maldives to the East Mediterranean market.
EMITT stands as one of the largest travel trade shows in the East Mediterranean region, offering a crucial opportunity to bolster the Maldives brand as the premier holiday destination in the area. With the increasing direct connectivity to the Maldives, the market’s potential is on a steady rise, reflected in the growing number of arrivals. The Turkish market holds immense promise for the Maldives, with 12,856 tourist arrivals in 2023, positioning it as the 24th largest source market. Notably, the historic official visit by the President of the Maldives, His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, to Turkey underscored the strengthening bilateral ties between the two nations. This visit laid the groundwork for a multifaceted partnership, reinforced by the signing of trade-focused agreements aimed at fostering shared prosperity, including improved flight connectivity to facilitate tourist arrivals from the burgeoning Turkish market.
