Maldives showcased at ILTM Cannes 2023
Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC/ Visit Maldives) is showcasing the Maldives’ luxury experiences at the flagship show of International Luxury Travel Market (ILTM), ILTM Cannes 2023.
This event is held at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès from 4th to 7th December 2023, kicking off with the Global Forum on the first day which captured the essence of the current luxury travel industry with engaging presentations. A total of 8 companies across the luxury sector of Maldives tourism industry are taking part in the event, presenting their unique luxury offerings to the major markets. These companies are Amilla Fushi, Bliss Maldives, Cora Cora Maldives, Emerald Maldives Resort & Spa Fasmendhoo, Kuda Villingili Resort Maldives, Robinson Club Maldives, Finolhu Baa Atoll Maldives, and Universal Resorts.
ILTM Cannes 2023 is one of the top luxury trade fairs in the world, providing a significant platform to conduct in-person business meetings with different luxury buyers from our key source markets such as France, United States, UK, Germany, and Italy.
Maldives is renowned for being an ultimate luxury destination, providing exceptional products, services, and experiences. Participation in the event is aligned with MMPRC’s strategies in targeting the luxury and affluent segments and maintaining the destination as a premium destination in major markets. It offers the opportunity for industry professionals to reach key luxury buyers via the event and to market the luxury products, services, and experiences available in the Sunny Side of Life.
The Maldives’ stand at ILTM Cannes 2023 reflects the aspects of luxury tourism through visuals showcasing luxury resorts, liveaboards, experiences and the unique geography of the destination. During the event, luxury buyers are connected to our industry partners through one-on-one meetings where information on the luxury segment of the destination is disseminated.
In 2023, the top 10 markets to the Maldives are Russia, India, China, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, United States, France, Spain and Switzerland. Till 29th of November this year, 1,678,639 tourists were recorded to have arrived in Maldives, which is a 9.41% increase compared to 2022. MMPRC consistently promotes the Maldives through various marketing activities, ensuring that the Maldives remain as the ultimate top-of-the-mind luxury destination worldwide. As such, MMPRC has successfully conducted a total of 348 marketing activities by the 23rd of November this year.
The Maldives was honoured with some of the most prestigious awards at the World Travel Awards this year. The Maldives won the title of World’s Leading Destination for the fourth consecutive year and MMPRC won World’s Leading Tourist Board for the second year in a row. In addition to this, the Maldives also received the newly-introduced Global Tourism Resilience Award at this event, given for strategically building capacity to recover swiftly and thrive after disruptions. These wins are testament to the Maldives’ exceptional standing in the global tourism landscape and the enduring appeal of the Sunny Side of Life to travellers worldwide.
