Maldives to host Raaraa Pro kiteboarding event in June
Raaraa Pro, the Maldives’ emerging kiteboarding event, returns for its second edition in 2026, building on the success of its inaugural competition held in K. Dhiffushi.
Organised by Iconic Events, Raaraa Pro 2026 aims to further establish the Maldives as a destination for wind sports and sports tourism.
The upcoming edition is scheduled to take place from 1–6 June 2026 in K. Dhiffushi, bringing together local and international kiteboarders in a dynamic and competitive environment, with participation open to all nationalities.
This year, the event will expand to feature two disciplines:
- Twin-Tip Slalom Racing
- Freestyle Kiteboarding (introduced for the first time)
The addition of freestyle introduces a new dimension to the competition, combining high-speed racing with technical trick performance, enhancing both athlete participation and spectator experience.

During a recent press conference, the official event poster for Raaraa Pro 2026, designed by Dezino Studio, was unveiled.
The organisers also revealed the official event t-shirt, along with the introduction of athlete jersey numbers for the upcoming edition. Each participating athlete will be assigned a unique jersey number specific to Raaraa Pro, adding a new identity element to the competition and enhancing athlete recognition.
Speaking on the return of the event, Hassan ‘Rushh’ Rasheed, Founder of Iconic Events, stated: “Raaraa Pro will be back in Dhiffushi from 1st to 6th June with Twin-Tip Slalom Racing and Freestyle Kiteboarding.”

Visaam ‘Thohtho’ Mohamed, Raaraa Pro 2026 Ambassador, shared his excitement: “I’m excited for this year’s edition and aiming for a podium finish again. It is a proud moment for me to be selected as this year’s event ambassador.”

Mohamed Abdul Rahman ‘Mode’, Race Committee Official, highlighted the event’s development: “The introduction of the freestyle division to Raaraa Pro 2026 is another milestone for the event and provides athletes with more opportunities to improve their skills. Last year, we saw strong progression, with new athletes stepping onto the podium.”

Following a successful first edition, Raaraa Pro continues to grow as a platform that supports the development of kiteboarding in the Maldives while promoting local islands as hubs for sports tourism..
The event is expected to engage athletes, watersports enthusiasts, and the local community, while also generating media content that showcases the Maldives’ natural conditions for wind sports.
