Maldives Tourism Association Concludes AGM, Plans to Celebrate Golden Jubilee

The Maldives Association of Tourism Industry (MATI) held its 32nd Annual General Meeting at Kurumba Maldives on 23 June 2022. During the AGM, MATI unveiled celebratory activities organized to mark the Golden Jubilee of Tourism in the country.

Planned activities include the Chevening / Maldives Association of Tourism Industry (MATI) Scholarships partnership; release of coffee table books and a Gala Dinner held on the 40th Anniversary of MATI on the 12th of August 2022. Moreover, MATI is partnering with Parley Maldives to tackle plastic pollution and promote environmental conservation.

A total of 96 members participated in this year’s AGM. The Chairman of MATI, Mr. Mohamed Umar Maniku initiated the AGM by delivering opening remarks, followed by a statement from the Secretary General of MATI, Mr. Ahmed Nazeer, who also oversaw the official proceedings of the AGM. Furthermore, the board members for the year 2022-2023 were elected.

The Executive Board of MATI for the year 2022-2023 include Mr. Mohamed Umar Maniku, Chairman; Mr. Hussain Afeef, Vice-Chairman; Mr. Salah Shihab, Vice-Chairman; Mr. Ahmed Nazeer, Secretary General; Mr. Ahmed Hafeez, Financial Controller and Mr. Asad Ali, Deputy Secretary General. Executive Board Members are Mr. Ahmed Siyam Mohamed, Mr. Ibrahim Siyad Qasim, Mr. Ibrahim Noordeen, Mr. Iyaz Waheed, Ms. Visha Mahir, Mr. Ismail Siyan Qasim, Ms. Aishath Neena Ahmed, Ms. Zulaikha Manik, Mr. Mahjoob Shujau, Mr. Salil Panigrahi, and Ms. Rivero Delgado.
