Maldives wins big at South Asian Travel Awards

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Several hotels and resorts in the Maldives have won awards in 18 categories at the South Asian Travel Awards (SATA). The awards were presented at a gala ceremony held on 16 November at the Mount Lavinia hotel in Sri Lanka.

The Amari Havodda Maldives resort won the award for Leading Beach Hotel/Resort, with Coco Bodu Hithi winning the award for Most Romantic Resort.

Centara Grand Island won the award for Leading All-inclusive Resort/Hotel while Amilla Fushi won the award for Leading Designer Hotel.

The award for Leading F&B Hotel went to Conrad Maldives Rangali with W Maldives winning the title of Leading Luxury Hotel/Resort.

Sun Island Resort & Spa won the award for Leading Family Resort.

The Sun Syam Iru Fushi was awarded Leading Wellness, Spa Hotel with Araamu Spa winning Leading Wellness, Spa Brand.

Adaaran Select Meedhupparu and Adaaran Club Rannalhi won Leading Dive Hotel/Resort and Leading Activity/ Watersports Centre respectively.

Voyages Maldives meanwhile won two awards; Leading Travel Agent and Leading Liveaboard Brand.

Scubaspa Yang won the award for Leading liveaboard, while Kaani Hotel in Maafushi island won the award for Leading Guest House/ Inn.

Dive Oceanus won the award for Leading Dive School/ Centre, with Cyprea Pvt Ltd winning the award for Leading GSA/ PSA.

The title of Leading Surf Hotel was awarded to Cinnamon Dhonveli with Paradise Island Resort & Spa winning the award for Best MICE Hotel/Resort.

The awards for Leading Eco Hotel/Resort and Leading CSR Program were awarded to Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa and Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu respectively.

Organised by Highrise Pvt Ltd, the awards aim to raise service standards in the region’s tourism industry.

The award is endorsed by Association of Tourism Trade Organizations of India (ATTOI), Confederation of Associated Tour Operators (CATO, India), Federations of Chambers of Commerce in Sri Lanka (FCCISL), Colombo Chamber of Commerce (CCC), Association of Travel Agents (ATA, Maldives), Kerala Hotels General Managers Club (KHGMC) and the Liveaboard Association of Maldives (LAM).

According to the organisers, SATA received over 200 nominations for 39 categories in 10 segments from major hospitality industry brands in India, Sri Lanka and the Maldives.
