Maldives wins big at the World Travel Awards Indian Ocean event

Maldives triumphs at the World Travel Awards Indian Ocean Gala Ceremony 2017, scooping up Indian Ocean’s Leading Destination, Indian Ocean’s Leading Beach Destination and Indian Ocean’s Leading Dive Destination.

The Indian Ocean Gala Ceremony of the prestigious awards was held at Sun Aqua Vilu Reef and attended by many leaders who have worked effortlessly in the hospitality sector across the region. The World Travel Awards is given away to acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence in the travel and tourism industry across the globe.Indian Ocean’s Leading Airport was awarded to Velana International Airport and Indian Ocean’s Leading Boutique Hotel Brand was awarded to Coco Collection. Ace Travel Maldives was awarded Indian Ocean’s Leading Destination Management Company. The Sun Siyam Iru Fushi Maldives was awarded the Indian Ocean’s Leading Family Resort 2017 while LUX* South Ari Atoll Maldives was awarded the Indian Ocean’s Leading Hotel 2017.Indian Ocean’s Leading Dive Resort 2017 was awarded to Anantara Dhigu Maldives Resort, while Indian Ocean’s Leading Hotel Brand 2017 was given away to Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts which operates three resorts in the Maldives.Other accolades scooped up by the Maldives include Indian Ocean’s Leading Hotel Suite 2017 given away to the Royal Island Suite at JA Manafaru, Indian Ocean’s Leading Leisure Hotel 2017 won by Hulhulé Island Hotel, Indian Ocean’s Leading Luxury Hotel Villa 2017 taken by the newly opened The Royal Residence at Jumeirah Vittaveli, while Indian Ocean’s Leading Luxury Island Resort 2017 and Indian Ocean’s Leading Luxury New Resort 2017 was given away to The St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort.Meanwhile, Indian Ocean’s Leading Luxury Resort 2017 was awarded to Milaidhoo Island, Indian Ocean’s Leading Luxury Villa Resort 2017 was given away to Velaa Private Island, and the Indian Ocean’s Leading Luxury Water Villa 2017 was taken by Grand Water Villa at One&Only Reethi Rah.Other awards scooped up by the Maldives include the Indian Ocean’s Leading MICE Hotel 2017 won by Kurumba Maldives, Indian Ocean’s Leading Private Island Resort 2017 taken by COMO Cocoa Island and Indian Ocean’s Leading Resort 2017 won by Gili Lankanfushi.Trans Maldivian Airways also took away the award for Indian Ocean’s Leading Seaplane Operator 2017, while Indian Ocean’s Leading Travel Agency 2017 was given to Simply Maldives, Indian Ocean’s Leading Water Villa Resort 2017 was taken by Sun Aqua Vilu Reef and Indian Ocean’s Most Romantic Resort 2017 was given away to Baros Maldives.Winners in the Maldives category are;Maldives’ Leading All-Inclusive Resort
