Mandarin Oriental to Open a New Resort in the Maldives

From 2025, Mandarin Oriental Group has announced they will manage a new resort on a trio of private islands in the Maldives.

Currently under development, the resort will stretch across three islands on the Bolidhuffaru Reef in South Male’ Atoll.

Expect 120 villas including 56 over-water dwellings and 64 on the beach as well as 10 branded residences at Mandarin Oriental. Ranging in size from 200 to 1,000 square metres, the villas will be some of the largest on the market, each with private pools and panoramic ocean views.

There will be six dining outlets including three speciality restaurants and a sunset bar. Furthermore, the wellness facilities will span the tropical gardens comprising 12 treatment suites, vitality pools, sauna and steam rooms as well as a beauty salon.

Additional facilities will include a watersports and dive centre, tennis courts, a kids and teens club, a swimming pool and numerous private coves and beaches to explore.

“Mandarin Oriental is focused on developing its resort portfolio and it has been looking to enter the Maldives for some time. This project represents the right opportunity for the group,” said James Riley, Chief Executive of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group.

The 34- hectare site is being developed by SAMAC Properties, part of the Dubai-based DAMAC Group, one of the world’s foremost luxury real estate developers.
