Milaidhoo Island Maldives due to open in November

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Universal Resorts’ new five-star property, Milaidhoo Island, is due to open for business in November. Located in Baa atoll’s UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, the secluded island retreat is a 30-minute seaplane flight from the Ibrahim Nasir International Airport.

“We’re all very excited about the opening of Milaidhoo Maldives. Milaidhoo is not going to be just another five star resort in the Maldives and it’s an honour to be part of the team developing a concept that’s so very different from anything else in the country.  We call it reinventing luxury and we’re looking forward to sharing the story of a small island with everyone,” said Katherine Anthony, Marketing Director.

The property boasts 50 villas; 20 beach pool villas and 30 over- water pool villas. Each villa is a private haven with stunning ocean views and comes equipped with the latest technology.

All villas and residences feature spacious indoor and outdoor living areas, custom-made Maldivian-inspired furniture, a private freshwater pool, and a luxurious bathroom.

The resort’s signature restaurant meanwhile offers a spectacular view of the ocean from every table. Its unique design was inspired by three dhonis (traditional sailing boats). Local chefs will take guests on a journey to new gastronomic heights with their exceptional dishes rich in flavour.

The Lounge is packed full of imagination and flair. An excellent menu of drinks and cutting-edge cocktails will be available in a tranquil setting.

The resort’s all day dining restaurant offers an array of fresh daily specials and a’ la carte dishes all day. For dinner, an international mix of Mediterranean and Asian cuisine is served in a casual yet romantic setting.

According to the resort, the Grill Restaurant offers the most intimate and romantic dining setting, where effortless casual elegance meets fine dining. Located just steps from the beach, the restaurant offers world-class cuisine brimming with the freshest meat, seafood and vegetarian dishes.

During the day, the island’s Pool Bar serves exotic fruit juices, infused waters and snacks to the swimmers and sunbathers. As night falls, the bar transforms into a laid-back lounge with live music and the gentle sound of the waves in the background.

Milaidhoo Island has its own dive, marine, and watersports centres, offering group dives, snorkeling, excursions, wind surfing, kite surfing, kayaking, stand-up paddling, catamaran and Dhoni sailing – all with skilled instructors.

The island also boasts a state-of-the-art 24-hour gym and a games room.  For those seeking quiet and relaxation, Milaidhoo offers a library furnished with comfortable armchairs and stocked with a collection of interesting reads and board games.

The island’s spa consists of four treatment suites and a pavilion set over the lagoon where guests will also enjoy daily complimentary yoga and meditation classes.

“Barefoot informality will be at the very heart of this new and exclusive small, intimate and chic island. Built around nature, Milaidhoo Island offers a deeply relaxing environment, sustainable and contemporary design and genuine heartfelt hospitality.”[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
