Ministry adds Goidhoo lagoon portion for resort development
The Ministry of Tourism has added a portion of the Baa Atoll Goidhoo lagoon to the list of locations identified for resort development.
According to an announcement made Tuesday, 14.28 hectares of the Goidhoo lagoon have been included in the list of islands and lagoons available for lease.
The original list, published in May last year, comprised 17 islands and lagoons designated for tourism development. The ministry has since amended the list.
As part of the latest changes, the ministry has removed two locations: an 82-hectare lagoon in Kaafu Atoll and the AA. Alikoirah lagoon.
No reason was provided for the removal of the two lagoons. In previous instances, islands and lagoons have been removed from the list after decisions are made regarding their lease.
