Minor Hotels launches third edition of Explorer apprenticeship programme

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Minor Hotels Group has launched its third edition of the Explorer apprenticeship programme. Deadline to apply for the programme, conducted through Minor Hotel Group’s strong commitment to driving youth towards sustainable future talent, expires on May 6.

The twelve-month programme was first launched in 2014, and since then have seen the successful graduation of 22 candidates. The curriculum of the programme is produced by an accredited institution in Australia, which is gauged as a Certificate III in Hospitality.

The programme is unique in that it is the first syllabus that is mapped to both the Australian and Maldivian Vocational Education Framework, which translates to greater employability for their graduates, said the hospitality company. The Explorer School Leavers Programme provides training and subsequent employment opportunities for young people in the communities the group operates.

“Trainers are from the leadership team. They are also certified as trainers by the Australian institution to facilitate the modules,” said Mohamed Yamany, Training Manager at Anantara resorts, speaking to Hotelier Maldives.

“Their training are observed by industry experts who are also from our team and our sister properties.”

According to Yamany, upon graduation, the Explorers have the option to seek employment elsewhere but many of them are given the opportunity to work at the hotel where they underwent the Explorer programme.

“If a position is not available at the property where they received the training, opportunities are sought at other Minor Hotels in the Maldives and the rest of the world. If they decide to stay at the property where they were part of the Explorer program until a position opens up, they are given the opportunity to continue working as interns,” he added.
