Ooredoo Maldives contributes MVR 16 million to enhance emergency medical services

Ooredoo Maldives has reinforced its dedication to enhancing healthcare in the Maldives by donating specialised medical equipment valued at MVR 16 million to bolster the national Air Ambulance service. This initiative is part of Ooredoo’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts, with a strong focus on healthcare.

Launched on March 1, 2024, with Ooredoo’s backing, the Air Ambulance service has quickly become a crucial resource for individuals requiring urgent medical attention. The initial equipment provided by Ooredoo in March was essential for the successful initiation of this life-saving service. Since its launch, the Air Ambulance has managed 436 cases, facilitating the transport of 517 patients to necessary medical care.

Building on the service’s early success, Ooredoo Maldives is now supplying additional equipment to further enhance the Air Ambulance’s life-saving capabilities. This new set of specialised gear is intended to improve patient care and increase the service’s capacity to respond effectively to medical emergencies throughout the Maldives.

“At Ooredoo Maldives, we strongly believe in the importance of partnerships to address the urgent needs of our communities. Healthcare is a fundamental right, and we are proud to work alongside the government to implement life-saving initiatives like the air ambulance service. Our investment of nearly 16 million Rufiyaa highlights our commitment to ensuring that everyone, regardless of their location, can access critical care when needed. Together, we are creating a healthier and more resilient nation by supporting our communities, fostering healthcare innovation, and investing in impactful solutions,” said Khalid Al Hamadi, CEO.

“Today’s equipment handover demonstrates the potential of businesses prioritising humanity. By investing in our healthcare system, you are contributing to a future where every Maldivian feels cared for, valued, and protected. You have set a remarkable standard for corporate social responsibility, one that we hope will motivate others to act for the common good,” stated Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim, Minister of Health.

The Air Ambulance service, outfitted with advanced medical devices, has been vital in providing timely interventions and emergency care to critically ill patients. With this new equipment, the service aims to enhance its operations and extend life-saving care to even more individuals in need.
