Sirru Fen Fushi promotes Muaz Abdulla to Resort Manager

Sirru Fen Fushi – Private Lagoon Resort has promoted Muaz Abdulla to Resort Manager, effective 10 September 2026.

Muaz steps into the expanded role following more than two years as the resort’s Director of Human Resources, during which he played an important role in supporting Sirru Fen Fushi through a period of rebranding, restructuring and repositioning.

In his new capacity, he will oversee a wider range of resort operations, working closely with the leadership team and department heads to further strengthen operational standards, team development and the guest experience.

With more than a decade of hospitality experience in the Maldives, Muaz has worked with leading international brands including Constance Hotels & Resorts, JA Resorts & Hotels and JOALI. His career has focused on bringing together people, culture and business performance, giving him a broad perspective on what makes a successful resort operation.

His progression at Sirru Fen Fushi has been equally centred on people.Since joining the resort in April 2024, Muaz and his team have supported the development of the resort’s workforce, with more than 50 team members progressing in their careers through promotions over the past two years.

For Muaz, this is one of the achievements he is most proud of.

“If I had to choose what makes me proudest, it would not be a project or a business result. It would be the people,” said Muaz Abdulla, Resort Manager of Sirru Fen Fushi. “Behind every promotion is a person who took a step forward –someone who learned, gained confidence, took on more responsibility or discovered a capability they did not know they had. Those are the moments I value most.”

In his new role, Muaz will assume responsibility for the day-to-day operations of Human Resources, Learning & Development, Quality Assurance, Security & Safety, Resort Clinic, Engineering, Housekeeping, Recreation, Kids’ Club and Sustainability, working alongside the respective department heads.

His approach to the role reflects the experience he has gained throughout his career: that strong guest experiences begin with strong teams.

“At its heart, hospitality is personal. It is about how we make people feel – our guests, our colleagues and the communities around us,” said Muaz. “I believe that when people are given trust, opportunity and the right environment to grow, they do more than perform. They take ownership. They care. They bring their best to the experience they create for others.”

For Muaz, the new position is less about a title and more about bringing together the different elements that make a resort work.

“I want to lead businesses where performance and people are not competing priorities, but complementary strengths,” he added. “When you build the right people, cultivate the right culture and develop the right leadership, you create the foundation for exceptional guest experiences and sustainable business performance.”

Rudrojit Deb, General Manager of Sirru Fen Fushi, welcomed Muaz’s appointment, recognising his contribution to the resort and the strength of his understanding of its people and operation.

“Muaz has been an important part of Sirru Fen Fushi over the past two years, and his progression into the role of Resort Manager is a natural next step,” said Rudrojit Deb. “His understanding of our people, his commitment to developing our teams and his broader perspective on the business will be valuable as we continue to strengthen the resort and the experience we offer our guests.”

For Muaz, one thing remains unchanged as he takes on his new responsibilities: the belief that the people behind a resort are ultimately what brings it to life.

“Business is people. Exceptional hospitality begins with exceptional teams,” he said.

With his expanded remit, Muaz will work alongside the resort’s leadership team to support the continued development of Sirru Fen Fushi, while building on the culture, capabilities and operational foundations established over the past two years.
