Sun Siyam Vilu Reef triumphs at Hotel Asia Culinary Challenge 2024

Sun Siyam Vilu Reef has announced the remarkable achievements of its culinary and service team members at the prestigious Hotel Asia Culinary Challenge 2024, held from 13th to 15th May. Competing against top talents from the region, the team demonstrated exceptional skill and creativity, bringing home a host of medals across various categories.

The Hotel Asia Culinary Challenge is renowned for showcasing the finest culinary talents, and this year was no exception. The team members excelled in both food production and beverage service, reflecting the high standards and innovative spirit of Sun Siyam Vilu Reef.

Category Food Productions:

  • Live Cooking Beef Category: Demi Chef Ahsani – Silver Medal
  • Live Cooking Seafood Category: Commis I Pritham – Silver Medal (Regional 2nd Runners-up)
  • Live Cooking Chicken Category: Demi Chef Manoj – Bronze Medal
  • Live Carving Category: Demi Chef Dinush – Merit Certificate
  • Show Artistic Category: Kitchen Artist Dinush – Merit Certificate

Category Food and Beverage Service:

  • Iced Tea Challenge Category: Outlet Supervisor Puran Chalis – Silver Medal (Regional 2nd Runners-up)
  • Mocktail Category: Bartender Pathum Udayanga – Bronze Medal
  • Creative Beverage Category: Bartender Ashrof Khan – Silver Medal

The Sun Siyam Vilu Reef chefs showcased their culinary prowess in live cooking competitions, earning accolades for their exquisite beef, seafood, and chicken dishes. Ahsani’s silver medal in the beef category and Pritham’s silver in the seafood category, along with being the regional 2nd runners-up, highlight their exceptional talent. Manoj’s bronze in the chicken category further underscores the culinary excellence at Sun Siyam Vilu Reef.

In the artistic categories, Dinush’s talent was recognised with merit certificates in both live carving and show artistic categories, demonstrating his creativity and skill in food presentation.

Our beverage team shone brightly as well, with Puran Chalis winning a silver medal in the iced tea challenge and securing the regional 2nd runners-up position. Pathum Udayanga’s innovative mocktails earned him a bronze medal, while Ashrof Khan’s creative beverage skills were awarded a silver medal.
