Thai AirAsia to Resume Direct Flights to Maldives from Bangkok
Thai AirAsia will resume scheduled flights between Velana International Airport (MLE) and Don Mueang International Airport (DMK) from 22nd December 2021. This will mark the resumption of international services by the airline.
Thai AirAsia will operate two flights every week on Sundays and Wednesdays and will operate an Airbus A320 with the capacity of 150 passengers.
Santisuk Klongchaiya, CEO of Thai AirAsia said in a Press Release: “With the government’s reopening policy in support of the economy and welcoming vaccinated foreign travelers has provided a positive boost for the tourism sector. After thoroughly assessing the situation, AirAsia is proud to restart its international services with the Maldives as its first destination.
“The Maldives is a high potential destination and the nation is fully open to tourists with its businesses ready to welcome visitors. Apart from enjoying quarantine-free visits, Thai travelers to the Maldives are also exempted from obtaining a visa.”
So far this year, there have been 594 tourist arrivals from Thailand.
