Vikas Kumar appointed Cluster General Manager of Taj Exotica and Taj Coral Reef Maldives
Vikas Kumar has been appointed Cluster General Manager of Taj Exotica Resort & Spa, Maldives and Taj Coral Reef Resort & Spa, Maldives, marking his new assignment with The Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) in the Maldives.
Kumar announced the appointment through a LinkedIn post, stating that he was “grateful” to share his next assignment with IHCL in the Maldives. In his new role, he will oversee two of Taj’s island resorts in the country: Taj Exotica Resort & Spa, Maldives and Taj Coral Reef Resort & Spa, Maldives.
Kumar brings international hospitality experience across luxury resorts, business hotels and large-scale convention venues, with a background covering pre-openings, operations, guest experience, financial management and team leadership.
He has been with IHCL since August 2023, when he joined as General Manager of Taj Madikeri Resort & Spa and amã Stays & Trails in the Coorg region. In May 2026, he took up the role of Cluster General Manager for Taj Exotica and Taj Coral Reef Maldives.
Prior to joining IHCL, Kumar spent more than 14 years with Marriott International, holding several leadership positions across India and overseas. His roles included General Manager positions at properties in Navi Mumbai, Four Points by Sheraton Kochi Infopark, The Westin Pushkar and Courtyard by Marriott Kochi Airport. He also served as Director of Operations at JW Marriott Chandigarh.
Kumar’s earlier career includes food and beverage leadership roles across Marriott, Accor and Taj properties. His experience includes Director of Food and Beverage at W Maldives, Food and Beverage Manager at Aloft Bengaluru Cessna Business Park, Assistant Director of Food and Beverage at Sheraton Dammam Hotel and Towers in Saudi Arabia, and Food and Beverage Manager roles at Sheraton Bangalore at Brigade Gateway and The Westin Hyderabad Mindspace.
He also worked with Accor as Assistant Food and Beverage Manager at Novotel Hyderabad Convention Centre, following an earlier role as Banquet Manager at the same property. His association with Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces dates back to earlier career roles at Intercontinental The Grand Goa, Ananda in the Himalayas and other food and beverage positions.
Kumar holds a Master of Business Administration from IIBM and studied at IHMCT, Kovalam, Trivandrum.
Taj Exotica Resort & Spa, Maldives is located on Emboodhu Finolhu island, set within one of the largest lagoons in the Maldives. The resort is accessible by speedboat from Velana International Airport and offers 58 villas and six suites. The property features overwater and beach-facing accommodation, butler service, water sports, PADI-certified diving and J Wellness Circle.
Taj Coral Reef Resort & Spa, Maldives is located on Hembadhu Island in North Malé Atoll, around 45 minutes by speedboat from Velana International Airport. The resort features 62 thatched-roof villas positioned around its house reef, with accommodation categories ranging from beach villas to water villas and suites. The resort is also known for its diving experiences, house reef and access to a shipwreck near the island.
