Visit Maldives appoints artist Hussain Ihfal Ahmed as Local Ambassador

Visit Maldives Corporation (VMC) has appointed renowned Maldivian artist Hussain Ihfal Ahmed, popularly known as Iphpha, as a Local Ambassador under its ongoing Local Ambassadorship Programme.

The programme is designed to highlight the authentic experiences, culture, and natural beauty of the Maldives through the perspectives of distinguished locals. By engaging Maldivians as advocates for tourism, the initiative seeks to strengthen the nation’s branding and reinforce its position as a leading global travel destination.

Iphpha is recognised for his artistic career spanning more than two decades. Drawing inspiration from the islands’ culture and environment, he has presented solo exhibitions, live performances, and participated in international art fairs. His versatility across creative forms — including underwater painting and intricate sand art — has earned him acclaim both locally and internationally.

In his role as Local Ambassador, Iphpha will share first-hand accounts that reflect Maldivian culture and lifestyle, while using his influence and professional networks to promote the Maldives to broader audiences.

The objectives of the Local Ambassadorship Programme include:

  • Promoting the Maldives as a preferred destination for international travellers.
  • Expanding the country’s visibility across diverse regional and global markets.
  • Elevating authentic Maldivian storytelling through cultural and creative contributions.

Visit Maldives has indicated that it will continue to grow the programme by appointing other prominent local figures, ensuring that the Maldives is represented globally with authenticity and pride.
