Visit Maldives showcases destination at FITUR 2026 in Madrid
Visit Maldives Corporation (VMC) is showcasing the Maldives at FITUR 2026, the first major travel exhibition of the year, being held in Madrid, Spain from 21 to 25 January.
Recognised globally as one of the world’s leading tourism fairs, FITUR provides a key platform for networking, industry engagement and business development, attracting more than 50,000 trade participants and exhibitors. The exhibition serves as an important meeting point for tourism professionals and offers access to major business forums and presentations addressing emerging trends, sustainability and digital transformation within the travel sector.
Together with 25 co-exhibitors, the Maldives is being presented at a stand designed to reflect the destination’s evolving identity, highlighting its natural landscapes, luxury offerings, romantic appeal and cultural heritage. The stand features destination visuals displayed on a large LED screen, providing visitors with an immersive introduction to the Maldives.
Emphasising the destination’s versatility, the Maldives stand is structured as a central point for travel trade engagement, with dedicated segments showcasing romantic travel, wellness retreats, family holidays and adventure tourism. Seasonal themes, including Summer Escapes, Winter Escapes and Sustainable Tourism, are also highlighted. Visitors are invited to experience elements of Maldivian culture through a range of interactive activities.
To further strengthen engagement, Visit Maldives is distributing promotional materials and hosting a raffle giveaway, supporting the collection of market insights and enhancing understanding of travel trends and consumer preferences in Spain and Southern Europe.
Throughout the exhibition, Visit Maldives is conducting one-to-one business meetings with tour operators, travel agents, airlines, media representatives and industry stakeholders. The stand also provides a platform for industry partners to present their latest developments, supporting business-to-business engagement and facilitating discussions on potential collaborations, including joint marketing initiatives with tour operators and online travel agencies.
Visitor arrivals from Spain and Southern Europe continue to record positive growth. Arrivals from Spain increased from 39,014 in 2024 to 55,489 by the end of 2025, while arrivals from Southern Europe rose from 190,331 in 2024 to 223,871 by the end of 2025, underlining the region’s growing importance as a key source market.
Participation in FITUR 2026 supports efforts to strengthen the Maldives’ brand presence, maintain visibility in Spain and Europe, and establish closer working relationships with travel agents and industry partners across leading markets in the region.
