Vikas KumarW Retreat & Spa has appointed Vikas Kumarhas as their new Food and Beverage Director.

Kumarhas arrives in the Maldives with fifteen years’ experience in the hospitality industry. Shortly after his graduation from the Institute Of Hotel Management & Catering Technology in Kovalam, India in 2000, Kumarhas started his career as F&B supervisor at Ananda In The Himalayas, India. In 2003, he headed The Intercontinental, The Grand Goa as F&B supervisor, before working as the assistant restaurant manager at Taj Hotels, Resorts and Palaces in Mumbai, India in 2004.

Kumarhas joined the Novotel Hyderabad & Hyderabad International Convention Centre in 2006 as event service manager where he was promoted to assistant food & beverage manager two years later.

With a world of experience in the field, Kumarhas joined the Starwood chain of resorts and hotels in 2009 at the Westin Hyderabad Mindspace as the outlets manager. He worked as the food & beverage manager at Brigade Gateway at the Sheraton Bangalore in 2010, before moving to the position of assistant director of food & beverage at Sheraton Dammam Hotel and Towers in 2013.

Fish deck W MaldivesKumarhas held the position of food and beverage manager at Aloft Bengaluru Cessna Business Park in Bellandur, India, before moving to the Maldives to work in his current position today at the newly restyled W Retreat & Spa.

The resort boasts an over-water signature restaurant, all-day dining, and a BBQ restaurant as well as a sunset and pool bar. The resort also hosts ’15BELOW’, the only underground nightclub in the Maldives, located 15 steps below the island’s surface, offering more than 90 varieties of vodka and glowing cocktails.
